Canada does not have regulations in place to require Canadian websites to have a Cookie Policy, unlike other countries.
My website is setup to be viewed in Canada only. Visitors from Southern Mississauga is all I want. I block all other countries but Canada as it is not for anywhere else in the world. I have gone to great lengths to ensure this. I have a very good firewall setup. Therefore, because my website is not seen in Europe. I do not have to follow the GDPR Guidelines.
General Data Protection Regulation
The GDPR or General Data Protection Regulation was passed by a European Union of countries in 2016, setting up new rules for how companies with websites manage and share personal data. The advertising industry was collecting and sharing data with little to no restrictions prior to the guidelines. That meant rewriting the rules of how ads are targeted online.
It was these regulations that has dictated that websites have a cookie policy telling visitors to their website about the cookies they set.
Compliance
